Created over the recent summer months in the Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, "and, and" reflects Herman’s engagement with ripened senses: sweaty skin, lots of light, and the relief of water. Herman’s idiosyncratic abstractions combine high and low painterly materials and techniques, abandoning brushes in favor of direct mark-making with her fingers and hands.
