SALTS presents Thomas Jeppe’s large summer series “Power Studies” (2024) alongside the smaller-format series “Tumult 2024,” fresh from the studio, in a display armature custom-produced for the fair setting. “Power Studies” features four paintings centered around the anthropomorphic figure of a lemon tree. As sites of, rivals to, and obstacles to the production of energy, these trees embody an ambiguous relationship to power. The series will be accompanied by “Tumult 2024,” unusually abstract for the artist, depicting cropped sections of the sky drawn from various news reports throughout 2024.
